American pop star Nicole Scherzinger will be a keynote speaker at IFA, a global tech conference.

For those who don’t know Scherzinger, she was the lead singer of the iconic pop group The Pussycat Dolls, infamous for songs like ‘Don’t Cha,’ ‘Buttons,’ and ‘Wait a Minute.’

Scherzinger will address the transformation of celebrity, content creation, and philanthropy by tech on Saturday, September 7th.

The actress, singer, and philanthropist will be a speaker throughout the event. She will be joined by Mark Barrocas, CEO of Shark Ninja, Dave Reger, CEO and Founder of Neura Robotics GmbH, and others.

IFA, or International Funkausstellung Berlin, focuses on consumer electronics and home appliances and started in 1924.

The event takes place in Berlin, Germany, every September. This year, it’ll take place from September 6th to 10th, and MobileSyrup will be on the ground at the event, hoping to take a selfie with Scherzinger.

A Tech Dilemma: When You Love Apple but Are Not Satisfied with Its Products https://traveltrophy.me/a-tech-dilemma-when-you-love-apple-but-are-not-satisfied-with-its-products/ https://traveltrophy.me/a-tech-dilemma-when-you-love-apple-but-are-not-satisfied-with-its-products/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 09:09:24 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72407

We have only a few months until September which has been officially booked by Apple to launch its iconic products, led by the iPhone lineup. I think if you are even a little bit interested in technology, you must already notice the buzz all over the internet and social media, filled with people’s predictions, guesses, early “confirmations” about Apple plans and leaks, a lot of leaks, from software updates to hardware wireframes. Yes, we love Apple but does it really love us back with such determination?

Okay, the figurative speech aside, there is a big group of people who don’t feel satisfied with what Apple does. Don’t get this wrong, they are still ready to pay more than a thousand dollars for a new iPhone, but the innovation they expect is coming very slowly, at least compared to Samsung, Apple’s biggest rival, which has already introduced its AI capabilities.

It’s important to consider the truth that Apple is not trying to impress with innovations but with safe and intuitive products, which require time to implement and then only pass to the customer. Meanwhile, someone is sitting in front of their Macbook and trying to play the latest game but gets more and more convinced that other PCs may perform way too well, for instance. So, let’s start with this part.

Let’s be real – Apple products excel in many areas, but hardcore gaming performance just isn’t one of their strong suits. I’m an Apple super-fan who loves their signature premium design and intuitive user experiences. But when it comes to running demanding game titles, even Apple’s top-tier hardware gets outpaced by custom gaming PCs.

If you wonder about the difference between Mac Vs. Windows gaming experiences, just look at the experience of playing a graphically intense open-world game like Cyberpunk 2077 on a maxed-out M1 Max MacBook Pro versus a high-end gaming device. While the $3,499 MacBook can handle the game at lower settings around 30 fps, a similarly priced $3,000 PC with an RTX 4090 GPU pumps out over 100 fps at ultra settings with raytracing enabled. You’re talking about the difference between choppy, compromised visuals and a completely immersive experience.

The reason is simple – gaming PCs are purpose-built systems optimized for these 3D workloads. They pack powerful discrete GPUs like Nvidia’s latest 40-series cards with up to 24GB of video memory, liquid cooling setups to sustain peak performance, and ultra-fast M.2 NVMe SSD storage to minimize load times. Apple’s all-in-one designs with integrated graphics simply can’t match that level of raw power.

I’m utterly obsessed with the Apple ecosystem, but there’s no denying Spotify’s streaming service seems to consistently out-innovate the music discovery experience versus Apple Music. While Apple has drastically improved their offering, Spotify’s cutting-edge data science and recommendation engines give them a decided advantage.

Take Spotify’s advanced ‘Audio AI’ features like their AI DJ or the all-new ‘AI Utterance’ voice models. These use machine learning to analyze your listening patterns, demographics, and taste profiles to craft incredibly personalized DJ commentary and seamless playlist transitions tailored just for you. It’s like having a knowledgeable music expert as your private curator.

By comparison, Apple Music’s recommendations still feel more rudimentary and standardized. Their approaches like grouping playlists by moods or genres just doesn’t achieve that hyper-personalized user experience Spotify nails so well.

The user numbers underline Spotify’s dominance too. As of Q3 2023, Spotify boasts over 236 million paying subscribers globally versus Apple Music’s estimated 93 million (as of 2024). That incredible scale means Spotify can ingest vastly more listening data to train their AI models. Industry data indicates Spotify tracks over 79 billion monthly plays across its platform versus Apple’s 35 billion.

So while both are excellent services, for music superfans craving that next-gen AI-curated experience, Spotify’s aggressive emphasis on personalization AI gives them the decided edge – at least for now.

We all saw that splashy Meta keynote video where Mark Zuckerberg threw unmistakable shade at Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Calling the $3,499 device “expensive” while claiming Meta’s $1,499 Quest Pro offers a superior extended reality (XR) experience, Zuck was clearly attempting to get out in front of Apple’s invasion into his virtual territory.

In reality, both the Vision Pro and Quest Pro represent enormously expensive bets on an as-yet-unproven consumer XR market. While Meta enjoys a significant cost advantage thanks to their content-neutral, open ecosystem approach, Apple’s track record for premium industrial design and obsessive hardware optimization could give Vision Pro’s experience a serious edge.

Take the Vision Pro’s novel aluminum and curved glass design, for example. With an internal fan, vents, and over a dozen cameras and sensors, it represents a technical marvel of miniaturization and ergonomics – hallmarks of Apple’s renowned hardware chops. The Pro’s ultra high-res displays also output at a silky 120Hz refresh rate for life-like visual fidelity.

By contrast, Meta’s plastic Quest Pro headset looks comparatively toy-ish and low-rent, with LCD panels that max out at 90Hz and less than half the number of cameras. But as always with Apple products, that seamless user experience comes at a premium cost.

Verizon’s Fall Open Enrollment is Here https://traveltrophy.me/verizons-fall-open-enrollment-is-here/ https://traveltrophy.me/verizons-fall-open-enrollment-is-here/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 09:07:18 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72405

It’s that time again, with Verizon firing up open enrollment for customers looking to add Verizon Mobile Protect to their device plan.

This $16/mo to $19/mo-priced insurance covers loss, theft, damage, and post-warranty malfunctions, which may seem more important these days given how long OEMs are supporting hardware for. Customers get same-day delivery for insurance replacements, unlimited claims, unlimited $0 cracked screen repair, as well as $99 or less damage replacement deductibles.

Features

Pro on the Go: Same-day delivery and setup for insurance replacements and new devices
Unlimited number of claims
Unlimited $0 cracked screen repair & back glass repair for select smartphones
$99 or less damage replacement deductible
24/7 access to tech support and digital security and privacy tools

I typically think that insurance for phones is silly, but I see some of the phone conditions some of y’all are walking around with. Busted screens and what not. Maybe you could benefit from this?

Telecom news roundup: Bell, Telus must provide fibre access [Aug 10-16] https://traveltrophy.me/telecom-news-roundup-bell-telus-must-provide-fibre-access-aug-10-16/ https://traveltrophy.me/telecom-news-roundup-bell-telus-must-provide-fibre-access-aug-10-16/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 09:05:29 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72402

After a slower week, Canadian telecom was back with tons of news this week. There were several notable pricing changes, frustration over a new Rogers ad and several CRTC-related stories.

Here’s what happened in Canadian telecom this week:

Pricing and deals

Fido added unlimited calling to seven countries, including the U.S., China, India and Mexico, to its $54/60GB plan.

Koodo offered special plans to existing customers ranging from $30/60GB to $55/90GB.

Bell offered a special $45/100GB migration plan to some Virgin customers.

Several carriers are offering the Pixel 8 for $5/mo.

Koodo boosted the data on its $39/mo plan from 20GB to 50GB.

Infrastructure

Rogers partnered with SenseNet to bring wildfire detection technology to 10 communities across Alberta and B.C.

Bell and Virgin warned of service disruptions in Montreal due to a broken water main.

Legal and regulatory

The USW won an injunction against Telus that puts the company’s return-to-office mandate on hold, giving the union time to negotiate a solution with the carrier.

Bell made over $64 million off inmate calls in Ontario jails and $39 million of that went to the province as a commission.

A new ad from Rogers featuring John Krasinski faced ire from Canadian actors.

The CRTC ruled Bell and Telus must provide access to their fibre networks to competitors nationwide. The ruling was an expansion of a temporary directive from the CRTC that was released in November.

Corus accused Rogers of weaponizing its media dominance to disadvantage independents.

The Tineco Floor One S5 makes vacuuming and mopping so much more efficient https://traveltrophy.me/the-tineco-floor-one-s5-makes-vacuuming-and-mopping-so-much-more-efficient/ https://traveltrophy.me/the-tineco-floor-one-s5-makes-vacuuming-and-mopping-so-much-more-efficient/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 09:01:23 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72397

Five years ago, Chris Evans made a viral humorous tweet bemoaning the inclusion of “smart” functionality into pretty much every new piece of technology. “You’re a major pain in all of our asses,” he quipped. As someone who similarly doesn’t care about smart features at all, it summed up my thoughts quite well. (Honestly, it was the most I will ever be able to relate to a buff millionaire.)

But the Tineco Floor One S5 2-in-1 vacuum and mop is one of the few “smart” products that I’ve really enjoyed. Using Tineco’s proprietary ‘iLoop Smart Sensor Technology,’ the device is capable of adjusting suction power, roller speed and water flow. This results in a remarkably seamless cleaning experience in which the only thing you have to worry about in the moment is rolling the product back and forth.

Now, before we go further, I should confess that I initially went into this review process a bit ignorant, as the only high-end vacuum I’ve used before was an iRobot. Therefore, I was under the assumption that you could switch between vacuum and mop functionalities at will, but instead, the Floor One S5 does both simultaneously. This means it wasn’t 100 percent useful in three flights of carpeted stairs, but ultimately, that’s my own fault for not doing more research.

It’s a worthwhile trade-off, though, since it can’t be understated how handy it is to have the dual vacuum-mop functionality going at once. On top of being pretty light to pick up and satisfyingly smooth to roll along the ground, it does a bang-up job of cleaning. In particular, I was impressed by its streak-free mopping, which Tineco says comes from its special brush head design. On the vacuum side of things, my mum felt the Floor One S5 was especially good in areas of high dust concentration, such as under her bed. (In the few instances where it didn’t immediately suck up every dust bunny, a second rollover would successfully finish the job.)

Tineco Floor One S5 display

And back to the aforementioned smart technology, the vacuum has an ‘iLoop’ full-colour LED display ring to provide real-time information to you. Here, you’ll find the battery life, as well as what cleaning mode you’re in (‘Auto’ for basic cleaning, ‘Max’ for tougher messes and ‘Suction’ mode for vacuuming liquids and other wet messes without mopping). In general, though, the Floor One S5 is efficient enough to clean on Auto; I never needed to switch to Max.

But the best part of this display is that it uses an increasingly red-coloured loop to denote especially dirty areas. It’s a clever way to show you where certain parts of your house might be especially prone to getting messy. I can see this being even more useful for people with kids or pets who leave all kinds of spillage on the ground. You can also download the free companion Tineco Life app on Android and iOS for weekly cleaning reports, volume adjustment and, mercifully, a ‘Silent’ option for the admittedly (and sometimes annoyingly) talkative automated voice.

Tineco app

Maintenance is also really simple. Said automated voice will tell you when you need to return it to the base to self-clean, and from there, you only need to empty out the dirty water tank. The noise that it makes when self-cleaning is also graciously not that loud, versus the iRobot that I used, which sounded like a jet engine when emptying its dirt bag. Removing and reattaching this tank, as well as the one on the rear for clean water and/or Tineco’s cleaning solution, is also painless.

My only real issue with the Floor One S5 is its battery life. With up to 35 minutes of cordless use, it gets through most, but not all, of my 1,700 sq. foot townhouse, and that’s removing the carpeted stairs on which I can’t use it. By the last of the four floors, we had to return it to the charging stand. For context, a full charge takes about four to five hours, although we didn’t need to wait that long, of course, to get enough juice to finish the house. Plus, the short battery usage is also more reasonable when you consider that it’s handling both vacuuming and mopping, so it still saves you time in the long run with its efficiency.

Tineco Floor One S5 rear

On the whole, my experience with the Floor One S5 has been delightful. Being able to vacuum and mop at the same time is extremely convenient, and all of the “smart” features that enable it to go back and forth between these functionalities are most welcome. While I do wish the battery life was just a tad longer, it’s a fair trade-off for a device that makes something I normally don’t enjoy doing — cleaning — that much more smooth and efficient.

You can order the Tineco Floor One S5 from Tineco’s website for $649. A special $250 discount is also available until Monday, August 19th.

Top 5 Free Forex Bots for Android: Automate Your Trading on the Go https://traveltrophy.me/top-5-free-forex-bots-for-android-automate-your-trading-on-the-go/ https://traveltrophy.me/top-5-free-forex-bots-for-android-automate-your-trading-on-the-go/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 08:57:32 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72391

Mobile devices have opened up a whole new world of possibilities for forex traders – allowing us to respond to changing markets in real-time no matter where we are. Some clever automated trading bots for Android take advantage of this by enabling traders to easily manage positions and execute tactics from their phones. For those new to algorithmic trading, it may seem scary handing control to a bot, but they can make life a lot simpler! Here’s an introduction to 5 of the top free Android bots and why they’re worth exploring.

Benefits of Forex Trading Bots

While giving up control doesn’t come naturally to us humans, automated solutions offer some cool benefits that many traders are finding worthwhile:

Accessibility

Unlike complex desktop software, these bots deploy straight from user-friendly mobile apps. So trading strategies can be adjusted on-the-fly without being stuck at a PC. The convenience this allows in staying on top of positions is huge.

Reliability

Let’s be honest – emotions like fear and greed often mess with our trading decisions. Robots consistently apply logic and analytics without fatigue, hesitation, or bad judgement calls. Less mistakes usually means better results.

The Top 5 Android Assistants for Forex Trading

In the complex world of currency trading, a little automation can go a long way. Savvy Android users can handpick from various bots, easing the maneuvering of financial markets. Below are 5 of the foremost free forex bots for mobile-centric investors.

1. MetaTrader 4

MetaTrader 4 enjoys status as the world’s highest-profile retail trading software for good reason. Its mobile app flawlessly mirrors the functionality that’s made the desktop platform famous. This liberates Android-toting traders through continuity, allowing them to activate intricate custom bots or handy presets like the MACD Sample EA on the fly. Streamlined connections with API-linked brokers further oil the wheels.

2. FXCM Trading Station Mobile

FXCM smartly knows less can be more when it comes to mobile. Their slick app distills automation down to essentials like easy-to-use bots built around popular technical indicators. The ability to conveniently adjust currency positions or receivers quick signals via mobile keeps trading accessible for newcomers.

3. AvaTradeGO

AvaTradeGO allows effortlessly launching proprietary bots engineered to track and capitalize on trends in the volatile cryptosphere. With performance Remaining constantly updated against benchmarks, users can monitor results on the move. Integration with AvaTrade’s infrastructure also enables deposits and bot-driven trades to smoothly flow through Android devices.

4. eToro Copytrader

Unlike fully automated solutions, eToro’s Copytrader focuses on mirroring the ongoing decisions of flesh-and-blood traders with outstanding track records. Investors can apply filters to discover and mimic vetted performers in a passive signals approach better suited for mobile engagement.

5. Trade Interceptor

Billed as the Swiss army knife of mobile trading apps, Trade Interceptor brings multi-broker support and a hearty feature set. This includes one-click trading bots granting customization options for individualized automation strategies. Users can apply tweaks to indicators or allow adaptive response to ever-changing market climates.

Key Factors In Selecting Android Trading Bots

While the aforementioned apps deliver simplified automation to Android devices, choosing the optimal solution depends greatly on individual user priorities and level of trading experience. These key considerations help match needs accurately:

Account Security

Applications lacking fallback encryption protocols for login details expose traders to serious fraud risks. Checking encryption standards is mandatory.

Equally crucial is verifying the regulated status of brokers before allowing any app automation access to accounts. Android versatility remains handicapped without proper regulatory oversight.

Complexity Preferences

Seasoned traders adept at installing custom indicators or EAs will find MT4’s open architecture accommodating. Novices may better prefer ready preset bots on apps like AvaTrade.

Those seeking to automate bespoke signaling approaches requiring original code or complex logic should ensure Android compatibility for their craft first.

Functionality

Applications with tighter device integration allow smoother automated interactions while multitasking across Android screens or notifications.

Traders with higher risk appetites might want automation with more aggressive profit targets without restraints. Conservative investors could demand enforced stop-losses or caps on position sizing for all automated trades.

Carefully analyzing areas that align with such specific requirements and priorities reduces guesswork in determining which Android automated solution best matches individual trading styles and constraints most accurately. This takes the frustrations out of mobile trading.

Maximizing Automation Value

To extract the greatest utility from mobile automated solutions, users should:

Learn their Capabilities

Instead of expecting plug-and-play perfection, traders well-versed in their chosen platform’s strengths spur more powerful synergies. Becoming familiar with all available features allows traders to use bots more strategically.

Customize settings

Default options serve the masses, but tailored configurations matching trading style often improves automated profitability. Taking the time to adjust indicators, risk parameters, and automations to align with personal preferences or strategies boosts profit potential enormously.

Monitor performance

While a major benefit lies in setting and forgetting bot trades, periodic monitoring proves important to ensure markets have not overwhelmed automated logic. Traders should check metrics like win percentages, drawdowns, open trades etc. monthly.

Review functionality

As brokers upgrade platforms and bots integrate new features, reviewing functionality updates ensures traders exploit latest advantages. New machine learning modules, updated technical indicators, or better backtesting capability could elevate profitability.

Conclusion

Android mobility has unlocked exciting potential for traders to tap into sophisticated algorithmic systems on the go. As the platforms explored illustrate, advanced automation is no longer confined to desktop terminals alone. Epic Games Store Now Available for Download on Android, iOS https://traveltrophy.me/epic-games-store-now-available-for-download-on-android-ios/ https://traveltrophy.me/epic-games-store-now-available-for-download-on-android-ios/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 08:55:27 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72389

Epic Games has done it. At long last, we have an official Epic Games Store app for Android and iOS, downloadable and providing access to titles such as Fortnite, Fall Guys, and more.

Epic announced this is what would be happening earlier this year, but honestly, we weren’t expecting launch to be this smooth. This is likely thanks to years of legal battles between Epic, Google, and Apple, but at the end of the day, the kids just want to play some d*mn Fortnite.

To get to playing, you’ll need to download the Epic Games Store app from Epic Games by following the link below. You won’t find it on either Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, log in or create an account, then simply enjoy your games.

The Epic Games Store is free to install, and at launch has Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe available to download and play for free with optional in-app purchases available. In the future, you’ll be able to purchase new products directly through the app, and get weekly free games and/or content packs.

Go forth and game, people.

There’s no denying the Backbone controller is great for mobile gaming https://traveltrophy.me/theres-no-denying-the-backbone-controller-is-great-for-mobile-gaming/ https://traveltrophy.me/theres-no-denying-the-backbone-controller-is-great-for-mobile-gaming/#respond Mon, 19 Aug 2024 08:53:47 +0000 https://traveltrophy.me/?p=72386

Mobile game controllers are becoming more important every year, as more gaming-capable phones hit the market. For a long time, the Backbone controller has been heralded as the best and now, I’ve finally been able to see if it stands up to that label.

After testing out a few GameSir controllers this year, the Backbone offers some nice improvements to the hardware design and buttons to make it feel really nice to hold. It’s surprisingly ergonomic, considering it’s pretty compact, and I’m able to play on it much longer without getting hand cramps than with the smaller GameSir X2s.

I’ve been using it between the new Pixel 9 and the iPhone 15 Pro, and both phones fit securely into the controller right out of the box. But if you have a thicker phone or use a case, there is another set of rubber pieces that help hold larger phones that you can swap in to ensure that most handsets are compatible.

Regarding gaming, the Backbone feels fantastic in hand, and for console games that I stream over Steam Link, it feels more in line with a full-sized controller than its size might suggest. That said, the only drawback here is the triggers and bumpers. While they’re much better than touchscreen controls, they don’t have a lot of travel, and the bumpers are a little mushier than I’d like. They’re both very usable, but they feel more in line with the PS3 controller than the PS4 or PS5.

If you want to get the controller, you can get it in two configurations – PlayStation or Xbox (called Standard on Backbone’s website). I chose the PlayStation version since I like the look of the white controller more, but I’ve learned in my time using it that I should have gone Xbox. I don’t have a Game Pass subscription anymore so I mostly play mobile games or emulators on my phone with the controller and those rarely support PS5 controller icons in-game. I also stream games via Steam Link, and I am able to use PlayStation buttons in some first-party Sony-published games, but even those usually default to Xbox, and I need to fiddle with settings to transfer it over.

That all being said, I think I would only recommend the PlayStation model to PS5 owners, and everyone else should just get the Standard option with Xbox buttons, even if you like the white colour more. Again, the mismatched buttons don’t make it impossible to play, and if you play the same game for a while your muscle memory will usually carry you through, but starting new games or handing the controller to a friend this way can get a little confusing.

My other concern is the USB-C port itself. Unlike the GameSir X2s, which had a really smart USB-C port that pivots so you don’t have to worry as much about breaking it when you take your phone out, the Backbone port is locked in place so you need to make sure you slide your phone off it, before yanking it out of the controller. The backbone telescopes out enough to make this easy to do, but it just feels a little bit against my human nature to have to remove the phone from this controller so delicately.

One of the things that makes the Backbone special is that it also has a wired headphone jack and a USB-C port, so you can both charge your phone and use a wired headset while gaming. Most other controllers only have a passthrough USB-C port.

There’s also a Backbone app that will help you get a little more out of the controller. For instance, once you open the app, it tells you that you can just wire the Backbone via USB to any other PC or tablet, and it will work as a regular controller. The app also lets you set up the Backbone shortcut and the screen recording shortcut in case you play some competitive titles and want to record your sweet skills.

When it comes down to brass tacks, I stand beside the Backbone, which is the best mobile controller so far. It just feels premium, and due to the controller’s unique shape, it’s easy to play for a few hours without hand cramps. That being said, I know most people aren’t hardcore mobile gamers, and up until I got the Backbone, I was pretty happy with the GameSir X2s, which is about half the price and gets the same job done. If you play a lot of games, I think it’s worth investing in the Backbone. It has a better warranty and feels like a stronger device. If you only game on your phone a bit or just want a controller to use on flights or while commuting, I think the X2s will be fine.

You can buy the Backbone for $139 in Canada, but as I mentioned above, make sure you get the button layout that will coincide with your consoles.
